The engineer who showed it to us says when the old man who keeps it going retires or dies, they'll have to replace it with a modern version.

and if it still turns on, it has the first three poetry books i published for friends on it....... and only a 5 1/4 drive so no real way to transfer anything LOL LOL LOL

since i don't envy the job of retyping it all, I just pretend they are safe and fine on there.... LOL.... hee hee

collectors item, huh... i never thought of using that excuse. Hubby says it should be a boat anchor.

I have a system with a combination 5 1/4 and 3.5 drive. I think it's my old 486 that hasn't been used in years. Want me to see if I can fire it up so we can get those poetry book files onto something more modern?

If the system is dead, I could always send you the drive.

nah..... i am not even sure my 8086 will turn on .... it has been in storage since before the millenium LOL....... and storage means at my parents place which is a 9 hour drive away.... somehow when I get there, there is always more important stuff to do than check if it has really survived...... as long as I don't check I can believe all is well LOL LOL LOL
