Loki managed to avoid the vet yesterday by disappearing for a few hours. He was probably sleeping somewhere in the shadows, but I checked all of the known sleeping places and he wasn't there. The neighbors were gone, so he wasn't over there. The vet was fully booked all afternoon. It was our 10AM appointment or nothing.
Later Eric found him sleeping in my laundry. Guess I'd better pay his license fees without the Rabies certificate. Beastlet!
Actually, I didn't really want to be out in the air before afternoon due to the smoke from the wildfires. I found my "Darth Vader" particle filter mask and it sets my progressive bifocals up a bit, so it impairs my vision a little.
Eric decided since we were dressed and ready to go that he'd mow the front lawn. I wore my "Darth Vader" mask and wrangled the electrical cord for him. With the air quality as it is, those with gas mowers were restricted from mowing. Trying to breathe through my mask had me winded and exhausted by the time we finished. Eric said I should try wrangling the mower. "Not with the mask on," I said. He was coughing out there and he doesn't have asthma. Bad air.
With all my safety measures in place, I'm not getting any worse. It's afternoon. I need to go to the pharmacy and grocery store while the air is expanded and the smoke isn't as thick.
