New morning routine without Eric
Jun. 12th, 2007 09:48 amI awake when I'm ready. Cactus is pressed into my right side where I can rest my hand on her, just like old Boo taught her. She's there when I go to sleep and she's there when I wake up. In between she's out romping with Loki, but that's cool. I sleep on the right side of the bed, so I have to sleep in far enough to accommodate a curled up cat.
Since Eric isn't here to feed the kitties before I wake up, Loki is curled up on his side of the bed, sleeping the deep sleep of a secure kitty. Cactus gets some pets from me, then gets up, climbs over my body and wakes Loki with a lick on the forehead. He stretches and is presented with her forehead. He begins washing her head and depending upon how sleepy he is, he washes most of it at least once. She's blissed out. As soon as he wakes up enough, he bites her on the neck and it turns into wrestling.
By this time, Scampi has heard sounds and comes clicking down the hall into the bedroom. She sleeps under the coffee table in her "kitty cave" on a couple of folded fleece lap blankets over an insulated cat mat. I feel sorry for her. She is too arthritic to get up on the bed but the bedroom is Cacti's territory so I guess it wouldn't matter anyway. She clicks because she cusses and fights when I try to cut her claws and I'm afraid I'll hurt her back if I push it. I get to one at a time if I'm lucky so she usually clicks on the hardwood floors.
The wrestling always ends with Cactus leaping off the bed and Loki looking pleased with himself. I take my meds and vitamins before I get up. This is my routine. I have ADHD, so if I don't have my ritual I often forget to take my meds.
