Last night as I cleaned my glasses, gently as always, one of the temples came apart in my hand. OK, these are going on three years old but still! The hinge assembly separated from the temple itself. I'd seen a tube of super glue in the kitchen drawer though I didn't remember when I bought it. Guess it was a long time ago. It was completely dry, still sealed in the package. Epoxy! We must have epoxy! In the garage drawer we had some. It's pretty old too. It's the type with two tubes and a plunger to push out equal parts. One part was running and came out in large amounts. The other tube was very gummy and I had a tough time getting any out. Luckily, they came out far enough apart that I was able to scrape an equal amount over from the runny side to make the right mix. I cleaned the parts thoroughly, took the hinge apart so I wouldn't glue them open or shut and glued the little hinge bit back into the socket on the temple.
This morning it was solid! There was a moment of panic when I had a hard time getting the hinge to line up. It seemed a bit too short. Oh, I hoped it was supposed to be completely seated in the socket! Finally it lined up and I got the tiny screw back in. Whew! Fully functional glasses!
