Our day in Golden Gate Park

We got a good parking place at Golden Gate Park and the weather was absolutely lovely. It was in the low 70's which we find quite comfortable for walking. I went in through a road my Uncle Jim showed me that took us very close to the museum area. I found a perfect parking place at the back door of the Academy of Sciences which was our primary objective. We thought it was just the back door that was still blocked by construction fencing until Eric saw a banner hung on it saying the opening date is one month away. Darn. As we walked around the building to go to the De Young art museum, they had cute paintings on the street corners.
The De Young was across an open area where the band shell is being restored. An art show was happening at the far end under the trees. We skipped that.
We got in line inside the De Young after we found the front door, which is where it was in the old building but hidden quite well. While waiting, we were invited to join the museum for $10 more than we would pay for our admissions for the day. An individual membership allows you to bring one guest, so for a couple, it's perfect. Not only that, but we'd automatically get in to see all the traveling exhibits for free. We had seen signs for the Chiluly exhibit but hadn't heard of him and planned to skip it. AND we get to see all the exhibits that visit the Legion of Honor in the Presidio for free, too. Wow! I couldn't pass that up.
Oh my goodness, the Chiluly exhibit was amazing! I took over 180 pictures during our visit. Sadly, they don't allow flash photography so many of my photos were blurry. I've included the best of them below.
