Silicon Valley - Formerly "The Valley of Heart's Delight"
I love the micro-climates we have here, the green redwood forest mountains on one side of the valley and the dry grassy mountains on the other, the fact that I can drive 45 minutes to get to a beach, 30 minutes to be in the mountains surrounded by redwoods or 20 minutes to be at the San Francisco bay. In the winter, snow is a few hours away though we don't get any except on top of the mountains that surround our valley on two sides.
I love the diversity of the people here. I love the mix of cultures and the vast choice of authentic ethnic foods at restaurants.
I love the few places that have remained from my childhood and trigger happy memories, like the Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum, the Rose Garden near it, the olive tree at my old high school that my class planted as our Senior Gift to mark the end of the war in Vietnam. That tree is so huge and beautiful now.

Date: 2008-04-13 02:33 am (UTC)This post was great. It told me a lot about where you live. My hubby grew up in San Jose and has family in San Fran and the whole area, it is one of my fave vacation spots for getting away from Phoenix in the summer.
Where did you go to school?
