It was the modem after all. Sure, it didn't arrive until this morning and I had to change the router's config to get it to work with it but tonight we have DSL! Hooray for functional DSL modems!!

April is going to delay leaving until after Jonathan is off to his Grandmother's in December so there are no worries about his last day of school for the year. :)

F at work has forgiven me, my boss wants me to extend my internship and the one class I'm planning to take this quarter is on Thursday nights so I'll be able to attend the Wednesday night astronomy lecture series with Jonathan, who is very excited about the first one about dark matter.

I went back in to face the Internship Poster experience from Hell. The printer couldn't handle the Microsoft Publisher files. I still didn't have access to Illustrator and F was so overwhelmed I couldn't bring myself to ask for her help until I spoke to the internship office. Then I just needed to ask her if we had access to a way to print, mount and laminate a poster. She does posters for events at NASA so I knew she'd know. It turns out only work for civil servants can be done where hers are done so I was still stuck trying to find a way to get my poster finished properly before Thursday. Then F had an idea I was too stressed to even consider: Download the trial version of Adobe Illustrator and copy my poster into it then save it as a PDF.

D'Oh! Why the heck didn't I think of that???

Sure enough, they had a trial version that would last for 30 days. I downloaded and installed it and had to learn how to use it. FYI: Don't believe the help text that the printable area of your custom artwork is within the tiny inner dotted rectangle. It's actually the whole area shown. It took me two tries to get it done the right size. Luckily I was able to select everything in Publisher and paste it as a unit into Illustrator. A little sizing and Ta Daaaaah! I have a poster in the proper format for printing. I emailed it to the internship office lady and she got it off to the printer.

The one thing that bugged me is they're having us all leave our names off of the posters. That means I don't get credit for my hours of work. Their idea is that they can put the posters on the campuses they recruit from. Oh well. This time I'll be able to show you my poster. I'd embed it here but I forgot to send it to myself. lol

After all was accepted as good, I went back and gave F a big hug and thanks. :)

It had fallen from the desk a few times and now it rattles a bit. Eric is going to take it apart to see if he can fix it. Then we'll have a backup. :)

So the Office War is officially over?

Whew.

Now we can get what we really want: Updates about Jonathon and how you are just simply ruling the Universe. *grin*

Thank heaven the war is over. WHEW! F is really a very sweet person. She has ENORMOUS defenses and isn't very mature. But she's doing the best she can.

Updates about Jonathan, yes! :)
