Busy busy boy with super snuggle time between rambles through the house to get in his two new sisters' faces.

He cried when Eric left yesterday, so distressed that I snuggled him for a while. I didn't think to tell him when I left, that we'd be back. I'll do that today. Telling him Eric would be home around dinner time soothed him today when he cried again.

Yesterday after waking us up, the first thing he did was to find Eric's MP3 player headset and chew one earbud off. We were terrified that he'd swallowed it - thinking it was going to be expensive to retrieve it before it killed him - but he'd dropped it off the side of the bed. So when it was time for me to leave, I didn't want to coop him up in the computer room. There are far too many wires in there to be chewed.

He and the girls hadn't had any physical interactions and seemed to be doing well with hisses and cat cussing, so I sprayed Feliway all over the house before I left. He was sleeping on Eric's chair in the computer room when I left.

I got home from school last night and he greeted me from my chair. "YOWWWW" he said. We held a conversation about his day and he told me all about it. lol He even followed me into the kitchen to put away groceries and talked to me the whole time.

Cactus was happy to see me in the bedroom but I couldn't find Scampi. Eric said she'd come for dinner. I finally found her in her safest hidey hole, under the head of our bed. The old waterbed frame and bookcase headboard makes for a nice safe tunnel. I coaxed her out to sit on my lap until bedtime.

The crazy fool Jeffy was getting into the girls faces over and over. He ran through the house at top speed a few times! YAY! Once he skidded as he cornered and banged his hip into a popcorn tin we bought years ago because it had black kittens on it. It made a loud clunk and we laughed. Jeffy didn't care.

I went out to the garage to deal with laundry and he cautiously slipped out the door before I could stop him. He stayed out there for a long time, exploring and coming back to get cobwebs wiped off his face. We both showed him the kitty door. I'm not sure he's confident enough to use it on his own yet, but he has the idea now. I look forward to having all but one litter box in the garage again. :)

He and Cactus almost touched noses last night. At the last second, she hissed. His body is about the same size as hers but his head is much bigger. If he grows into that head, oh my goodness he'll be HUGE! Jeffy is as obsessed with dragging strings around the house as Cactus is, if not more. I predict they'll be romping by Friday. Scampi loves to watch him from the safety of my lap. Neither of them hates him, they're just not ready to be friends yet.

Thankfully, his voice has softened as he adjusts to living with us. I think he was scared yesterday so he was yelling more.

He did sleep at night but again, just after 6AM he came singing down the hall to get into his sisters' faces. Cactus just hisses now. Scampi stares him down and if that doesn't work, she cusses. He backs off then he hides and jumps at her to make her cuss some more.

We think Jeffy must have been taught to stay off the furniture because he has only gotten up on things we've told him he can. Even when Cactus was taunting him from the top of the cat tree, he didn't try to climb it... or hop onto it since he has no front claws, poor guy. Eric used his and Cactus's favorite string toy, the one with the rattly kitty toy on one end, to lure him onto the cat tree. That led to exploring the tops of the dried up aquariums and onto Eric's shoulders! Eric has always wanted a shoulder cat. Now he has one! After Eric went to get ready for work, Jeffy played on the cat tree a while longer. Then he started climbing other places in the living room we really don't want him to climb and as I started chanting sternly, "Jeffy Get Down" and got up to show him what I meant, he did get down without knocking too many DVD's over. He seemed surprised when I praised him "Good kitty get down!"

Whoever declawed him was probably dismayed when he started chewing on the furniture instead. Yeah, he's chewing on the couch since he can't shred it. Gotta find the No Scratch. Hopefully it will also be "No Chew" for him! lol

It's old and shredded a bit anyway. The arms were stained by roommates and by visiting kids. No big deal about the couch though I don't want him eating it.

We were cracking up at him this morning. He was mumbling to himself in the hall and Eric walked that direction and asked him "What?" Jeffy yelled "YOW!!"

We do that to each other without meaning to all the time. It's part of our A.D.D. Oh, he's just like us. lol

I love how he mumbles. He's a master triller and mixes in some gravelly whispered "mauoow raoo" and other similar sounds. He has more sounds than even Lee-Roy had! He's such a talker/singer!

It's my turn to name the pet, so I'm trying to find something lyrical to name him. I'm leaning toward Caruso right now because of his morning arias in the hall.

He sounds like a joyful addition to the family. It's fun to read your tales of him. I like all those special cat trills and moans too. Sounds fun.

Yeah, but his personality doesn't match those looks. He's a complete goofball.

I think so. He moved away at 18 to be a ski patrol guy in Aspen then when his team was killed by an avalanche when he overslept, he moved to Hawaii to work on tourist fishing boats. I don't really know him anymore. He was the first baby I ever held, though. I must have been about 5 and was allowed to hold him as I sat on the couch.

it's a hoot reading about the new guy! :)

How about Figaro? Then you go: Fiiiiiiiigaro...Figarofigaro...Fiiiiigargo....

*laughs*

I'm so thrilled he's fitting in. Can't wait to hear how well he's playing with the girls when they're ready to let him be part of the gang.

We are off to a good start. When I got home this evening, he and Scampi came toward the door from different directions and spent the next minute kissing each other!
