Eric's dad called at 8AM this morning. It was 10AM where he was and he gave me a bad time about still being asleep at that hour. We've had this conversation before. He never remembers I go to school at night until 10PM. He's in bed by 8PM his time.

Well that may change a bit. He called this morning to announce his engagement with the lady next door. We've known for a while he's been courting her. He proposed a few weeks ago and told us she'd turned him down. I guess she thought about it for a while and changed her mind. He told Eric he would have been announcing his marriage this morning except that the state has a waiting period before it issues a marriage license.

Eric told me and I whooped loud enough for his dad to hear on the phone, then I tried to stay awake to listen to Eric's side of the conversation but was failing so I went back to bed and slept another five hours. I needed that.

We're delighted for him. We know Eric's brother and sister will be, too. We've all talked about how happy we all are that he's found a sweet lady to love.

Eric said his dad even took her to a country-western concert and paid $40 per ticket. His dad would never have done that in the old days. He pinched pennies until they screamed. It must be love!

The only downside is that she wants to make the trip out to see us. NOOOOO! There's no rest for the weary, I guess. We'll have to start cleaning the house now to make it even close to presentable. I wonder how much those big waste bins cost to rent?

a waste bin? You really need that?
I never believe it's that bad at your place.

It's great for Eric's dad to re-marry. How old is he?

It's that bad. *sigh* Two pack-rats with no organizational skills = one huge mess everywhere.

Eric's dad is 78. Can you imagine getting re-married at that age?

i guess there's no age on love.

pack-rats. LOL**
i've seen a show on TV, it came from your country. About making a home clutterfree in a few days and re-styling some rooms and such. Wait.. what was the girl who presented it her name again.. she was black.. ooooow yes.. Miss Niecy, or something like that.
It's perfect possible that the show is very old to you, but to us it was rather new. You should call her to help you out, and that way i could even see you on tele. :o)

The only show they have for us is called Clean Sweep where they come out and muck out your house. They make you choose between things like your wedding dress and the painting your grandmother painted just for you. Um.... no.

We'll figure out something. We don't have money to buy all new furniture that stores stuff and it wouldn't help if we did. We have to change the way we think about things. Eric keeps every copy of every tech magazine he gets because he might need to go back to an article. I stopped getting magazines because I don't have time to read them.

A lot of this stuff can go. It just gets lost in a pile of things that need to stay and I get overwhelmed just thinking of trying to sort it out.

My psychiatrist thinks the car accident I was in when I was about two years old may have caused frontal lobe brain damage. That kind of damage can cause my organizational problems as well as the ADHD and learning disabilities I've struggled with. I overcame the learning disabilities and meds help the ADHD, but there doesn't seem to be an easy way to deal with the disorganization. :(

yeah, that program i was mentioning does that too. It's hard some times. They need to let go of some very prescious things. But still, IF they incist on keeping it, they let them keep it. But there are a lot of things going out the door that are totally useless.
I think Eric's magazines would end up in the yardsale for sure.

yeah, the ADHD sure has to do with it. I notice how Lene can turn our complete house into a big mess in a matter of hours. It's even worse when she's tired.

I think Linda, that you and Eric shouldn't do a thing. You both are who you are, you live how you live. If both of you feel good in your house, why clean it for a person you will hardly see much?
She's coming over to get to know you, now how will she be able to do that if you present her with a complete different Linda and Eric than you both are?
You're both lovely people. If she doesn't see thàt, it's sad.

We'll see how it goes. I don't like our house like this. We'd have a good excuse to get brutal with our clutter!
