I went through my recipe box yesterday and was delighted to find I'd written my MIL's apple cobbler recipe down with full instructions. I was terrified that I'd scribbled it on scrap paper and lost it... again. I knew I typed it into a wordpad document one year, but that was the year I transferred to another computer and messed up my file transfers before I wiped the old disk. I lost a lot of addresses for our Christmas card list. My old address book had crumbled by then.

This is our second holiday season since Mom M. left us and the first time since then I'm making her cobbler. The last time she had to tell me her recipe on the phone. I was so happy when I found the recipe I interrupted Eric's flight sim experience to crow about it! He got a big grin on his face. He loves that cobbler!

My list is together. I guess it shows how much I've changed to healthier eating habits. I need to buy butter, eggs, cream, milk and other fattening items we don't normally eat anymore. Somehow I don't think the chocolate soymilk I use in my morning mochas would work in place of whole milk for the cobbler. I finished the list yesterday at 1PM, and didn't want to go to the store while all the church people were crowding everyplace. Instead I fired up my computer and worked on my backlog of Cisco Academy modules. It was about 7PM when the Cisco site went down. Darn it! I was taking the final catch-up module assessment (test)! Now I haven't done the module for today's lecture. Foo. I'm closer to being caught up, anyway.

Then I played The Sims 2 the rest of the evening, taking a break to order a pizza delivered and to eat it. What was that I said about healthier eating habits? We've cut back on the frequency of pizza. Small steps. :)

It's frustrating to have to start my Sims alien breeding experiments all over again. I had a lot of green Sims and a bunch with pointy ears. My goal was to get most of them with green skin and pointy ears. This time around I'm not using SimPE since it's what trashed my game and caused this start over. Because I don't like Vidcund Curious's angry ways, I made his brother Lazlo of the Curious brothers get abducted instead. I was hoping they'd both get abducted and added a large telescope near the first one with Vidcund using it, but they only took Lazlo from the original telescope. I wanted three alien babies in the Curious house but they wouldn't come back for Vidcund. Thinking there might be a limit to two alien babies per house, I moved Vidcund into his own home across the street. The aliens still won't abduct him and impregnate him. He's too old now. He's so hard to make happy, he doesn't have enough aspiration points for the Elixir of Life. He'll just get old and die. Good riddance Vidcund!

My pointy eared Sims, and I've made three different households of them of different races and facial structures, have only resulted in one alien baby. None of the males seem to bond with the alien Roomies girls. I'll keep trying different astrological signs until I get it right. I'm hoping the female pointy eared Sims will fall in love with the Curious boys after they grow up.

The grumpy General Buzz Grunt got abducted and is raising an alien daughter. LOL He's suddenly wanting musical instruments and is revealing a gentler side of himself. I discovered with his daughter that if I use the built-in cheat of deleting the Sim, saving the game and reloading the lot to max all the needs counters, children will sometimes revert to toddlers according to the control panel but their bodies will still be child-sized. They move like chimps. The youngest Grunt boy is the only one not in University and he tends to his little sister's needs all on his own. But when he bathes her, his hands go in the wrong places then she looks up at him in surprise... The script for the actions work great for toddler-sized toddlers. It looks sick with a child-sized toddler when this glitch happens. After that, I didn't delete her again when her needs got low. *shudder*

Sims 2 is hard to play without hacks and cheats.

I never got to the store yesterday. Guess I'll go on the way home from school tonight.

We also never got into the attic to get the furnace filter size. Somehow we write it down and it disappears. I recorded it on my computer a couple of years ago... on that disk that got wiped. :( Last year we never changed the filter. This year with natural gas prices so high we need to get maximum efficiency. My toes are like ice. We need to get the filter so we can use the furnace. Our poor arthritic Scampers is limping. She needs the warmth, too. I'm just grateful for the unseasonably warm days we're having right now. They warm the house up enough to last until bedtime. Mornings are really hard. I just want to snuggle under the blankets and sleep if only my achy back would let me.

Tonight I'll also finish some laundry. Today I'm going to be wearing whatever I can scrape together. Eric didn't keep up on his laundry last night. He put it in the dryer this morning saying it would be dry before my load was finished washing. Wrong. He seems to forget it takes two cycles at the wash & wear setting to dry a load of blue jeans and shirts. His are now dry and mine are still in the washer. And I missed Pilates again. Guess I'll look nicer than I usually do when I go to school... speaking of which, I'd better scoot!

Using soy milk as a substitute in some recipies isn't too bad, but it's not the same as real milk!

I've been playing the Sims 2 lately while Brianna is napping (after not playing since before she was born). It's so easy to spend way too much time on that game, but I just get so involved with the families I make.
