After the angry email I sent (as described in this post) and the following promise in a return email from the person at the Registrar of voters who told me she had marked both Eric's and my preference for English only, we certainly weren't expecting to receive TWO sample ballots for this stupid special election the Gropenator insists on having. We each got one in English and one in Spanish - well, sort of. Each measure has English on the top part and the Spanish equivalent beneath it exactly the same in both packets. The only difference in the sample ballots is the language on the front and on the information pages.

I had sarcastically suggested they send random language ballots to English speakers just to be fair. She must have been angered by my anger and marked us as preferring Spanish out of spite. The rage didn't well up this time, thank you progesterone! Eric's anger when he first saw it faded pretty quickly, too. He joked that he wanted his random language to be...um.. I forget what he said but it was the language of some country in Asia.

EDIT: Nepalese. I asked him this morning. He wanted his ballot in Nepalese! teehee!

I'll give them a call tomorrow to ask them not to waste paper by sending us the Spanish ones.

Guess I'd better go to bed now.

There were about 3,000 Hmong refugees that were sent to Wisconsin last year, and they're trying to assimilate. So I've seen signs that were in English, Spanish and Hmong. Talk about random!
