Why aren't they dropping supplies in those isolated pockets of desperate people in New Orleans?

People are dying. They seem to be flapping their jaws about rules and laws and limits on what different groups can do and in the meantime NOBODY IS DROPPING WATER AND SURVIVAL RATIONS TO THE PEOPLE WHO ARE DYING!

They dropped those things to the people of Iraq a heck of a lot quicker than they're doing it for our own citizens.

WHY AREN'T THEY DOING THAT?????

They keep saying these people chose to stay when it's clear from the interviews for the last few days that most of these people didn't have the ability to leave. Many didn't have cars. Those that did didn't have fuel for them.

This is breaking my heart. Eric and I are both yelling at the stupid officials as they BS on TV.

I've been wondering the same thing...and why the hell have they even allowed to situation to get to the point it is...if they can bomb Iraq at a moment's notice, why can't they get a shitload of troops in there PRONTO to restore order, like YESTERDAY. It seems kind of crazy.

It's insane. Truly shows how much they care about the poor.

I wrote the same thing today, too!

It IS heartbreaking. No other way to say it.

I keep finding myself in tears--those poor old people.

Can you believe Bush nattering on about oil and gas? He's so freaking clueless.

Figures that he's all worried about the money.

On CNN just this minute, they said that doctors were trying to get patients out of a hospital and a SNIPER opened fire on them from an upper window!

Unfortunately, they aren't dropping supplies because in order to drop them with enough precision that the supplies don't go in the (fithly, contaminated) water, they need to be pretty close to their target. And if they get that close, they get shot at. http://news.public.findlaw.com/ap/o/632/09-01-2005/d5d200b41f46882a.html

Oh! Thank you. I also wondered why they aren't loading the buses with supplies. From this, it sounds like they are.

I guess I should change my post. Yes, I have been enlightened. But they should have started dropping supplies before people got that desperate.

I don't think it was that bad until the levee broke - and then the looters came out.
I can't get over the people getting TVs and stuff. No house, no electric - lets go steal a TV.
