The new battery did not charge yesterday. The little red light on the charger kept blinking red as it does when it's empty. At first, I thought I'd gotten another bad battery and was devastated. Mom going on a trip is something we didn't think would happen again. I don't want to miss this photo opportunity. Eric said I could use one of his cameras, but his all have small lenses and are cheap deals from HP I tried and rejected. He does have one really nice digital from the project he worked on but I sincerely doubt he'd let me use that one after breaking the other one we had from his project. The only other one with decent sized lenses is his SLR that I haven't a clue how to use.

Then at bedtime I remembered the battery can charge through the USB connector and decided to give that at try. The problem might be my charger, after all. I put the new battery into the camera and connected it to my laptop before I went to bed. I'd forgotten to turn my alarm off so it woke me at 6:30 AM. I remembered then that I'd forgotten my laptop goes to sleep after a few minutes. I got up and changed it to stay on when it's plugged in and went back to bed for a couple of hours. When I got back up, I disconnected the USB cable and tried it. IT WORKED!!!

It's plugged back in to get the maximum charge I can give it before my sister and BIL pick us up at 10:30 AM.

Whee! I'm excited!

Yesterday after my mammogram, which was one of the least painful ever - thanks to Ibuprofen and a really good technician - I went shopping and picked up:

A pretty art glass bracelet for Katie
Cinnamon gummy bears for Mike
Their birthday cards with funny animals
Feathers on a string/stick for Mike and Katie's kitties
Rubber chew toy in nylon jacket with streamers throwing toy for their greyhound, Olive
Kitty treats for Cactus and Squeakers
Fresh catnip for Loki - who is back on prednisone for his leg allergy

I need to run to the ATM to get some cash for Mike and Katie, too. That's their main gift. I just like to have something for them to open. I would have stopped yesterday but the catnip was dying and needed water FAST. It was already half dead so I got it for 50% off. The guy asked if I really wanted to buy it and I told him I needed it. It was their last one and our Loki has to have his sprig of catnip after his pill. He was surpised and said he wished his doctor would prescribe a few tokes of pot for him after he takes meds. lol

He and another clerk were amused when I told them the only way Loki would stick around for me to medicate him was the promise of a treat. He asked why I didn't use pill pocket treats. I forgot for a moment and just said Loki chews things up and would spit the pill out. On the way to the car I remembered, Loki can't have pill pockets. They have grain in them.

Anyway, I need to wrap the gifts and get my laundry out of the dryer before it wrinkles. The buzzer just went off. As soon as Eric gets out of the shower, I'm in and running to be ready by 10:30.

Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday! We will. Two-hours to Davis, a visit with Mike, Katie and their menagerie, a mid-afternoon dinner at a micro-brewery and back home again. Hope Mom hangs in there. She's going to be very tired by the time we get home. We were going to go to Old Sacramento, but Mike changed his mind when he found out his Gramma was coming. That would be too much walking for her.

I WILL have pictures! YAY!
