I went to get my camera battery from the charger and after two days of charging, the little light was still blinking red. Darn it! The light was just right for a picture series I wanted to take of the purple plum tree and the plums that are nearly ripe. It was going to be a puzzle of "Can you find the plums?" but back in the camera told the battery's story. It's dead. Completely dead. There's no way I charged it 300 times as it's supposed to allow. The only thing I can figure is I let it get too dead.
Since we're taking a family trip to Davis for my nephew Mike's birthday tomorrow, I need my camera working. I ran to our local drug store for a replacement battery. The design is proprietary for Kodak and standard batteries won't work. not only is the negative pole in a weird place, the voltage is 3.7 instead of 3.0 like all of the batteries the same shape as mine. The camera department guy sent me to a camera shop about 8 blocks away, but they were closed. I tried Radio Shack. They had it on their web order only list. Oddly, they had the very same camera for sale! I asked them, "So you sell the camera but no replacement batteries?" The guy shrugged and looked a little embarrassed.
Wolf camera was also suggested by the Drug store guy, but most of those stores closed a while back and I don't know where one is. The Radio Shack guys didn't know either. Their yellow pages disappeared from the store so they couldn't help me.
Grrr. My light was gone anyway. This morning I checked out Wolf Camera's website but they don't even sell the battery online!
There is a solution. Searching the web for the exact battery name came up with Circuit City, one place I hadn't even thought to check, and a check of inventory at our local store came up with a match! YAY!
I'd better get myself dressed and over there. Loki has a vet appointment at 1:30 this afternoon and I have a mammogram at 3:20. Still need to get a birthday card and silly gift for Mike for tomorrow. Hmm.. I think I'll get one for his wife, Katie too. We don't ever see her on her birthday which I think is the first or second week of June.
Tomorrow morning my sister and BIL will pick us up in a rented van that will hold us, Mom and them for our family trip. There's enough room to add Mike and Katie when we get there to go to Old Sacramento for a meal. ROAD TRIP! Yay!
I just hope the trend of less gas continues for tomorrow. Prilosec was definitely causing a good part of that.
