Wow! Squeakers just obeyed me!
Feb. 20th, 2008 07:09 amShe's been a total kitten up until now, ignoring verbal instructions unless they had a cat warning sound in them. Even then, she'd go back to whatever it was until Eric or I either distracted her with a toy or physically stopped her from the behavior.
Eric disassembled an old broken laptop on Monday. All the parts are sitting in a lawn chair he's been using to put his feet up onto since his recliner was disassembled and taken out pieces. See his pattern? It's broken. Take it apart!
The metal disk drive frame is hanging out over the edge of the seat of the chair. Squeakers started to pull at it with her mouth. I made a short hiss sound to get her attention and said, "No! That's not a toy!" She has heard this a lot but didn't seem to understand before. This morning, she looked me in the eye and turned away from it to find something else to play with!
OMG! I think this is the youngest any of our cats has ever responded to a verbal command!
Naturally, I praised her a lot telling her "Good kitty listen!"
Maybe we have a young genius on our hands. Yay! Smart cats can be a pain but they're so interesting!
