Unfortunately, it caused me some troubles with my school registration yesterday. In the past few days I've purchased to orders from Cafepress.com for the Boomer Babes get-together, a set of recovery CD's for my mom, a laptop hard disk for me and then yesterday a parking permit for school followed by registration fees. The only one that didn't ask for my three-digit security code was school registration. That charge didn't go through. Right after my first attempt the school website went down. I waited 20 minutes and tried again. The website was up but the payment screen just flashed and came back saying I still owed $120. WTF?

I emailed the tech support person at school explaining what had happened and that I HAD to pay for my class yesterday or I'd be dropped.

A few minutes later as I was rushing to get out the door the phone rang. It was a recording from my credit card company saying they thought there was fraud going on. I called them immediately to straighten things out. They need that three digit number from the back of my credit card or they won't accept the charge. They got both attempts and denied the charge. The lady approved it and said to try again. I had to do it from work. Beside that, I wanted to wait to see if anyone from the school responded. Nobody did. They still haven't. I did the payment process again and it went through. Whew!

I guess I should be glad they're watching out for me. If the school web person ever contacts me, I'll let him/her know about needing the three digit security number.
