Jeffrey and Cactus bond
Jun. 25th, 2006 01:11 pmI predicted Jeffrey and Cactus would be playing by Friday and if you ignore the cussing, they were. He's getting less snuggly with us as he gets more comfortable with the other kitties and the house. We still get snuggle time, but he's spending more time sleeping on the bed.
Friday morning I woke up with Jeffrey flipping around the bed trying to get Cactus to play with him. He kept landing on his back, looking at her upside down. She was curled up by my feet, hissing and grumbling at him. She threatened to hit him only when he got too close, but she held back. She finally did chase him off the bed only to have him return about 30 seconds later for more silly gymnastics.
Friday night Cactus was hanging out on top of the cat tree when he decided to play on it. She made sure he knew who was Queen of the cat tree. She looked mean, sounded mean and he nearly got down a few times. But he stuck it out quite a while before he finally ran away. He teases her until she chases him! :)
Saturday I went to computer lab to try and finish the case study with one of my two lab partners. On the way back I stopped at the pet store that has both bulk cat litter and the catnip mice our cats love. Eric said we needed to get new mice since Jeffrey is a nip head and all we had were old overly loved catnip mice. I got one for each cat and passed them out. Both Jeffrey and Cactus were on the bed sleeping so I gave them each a mouse and went to eat dinner with Eric. After dinner I checked on the kitties to find Cactus with Jeffrey's mouse and catnip all over the bed. He'd opened a seam in his mouse and she took it away from him at some point. Both of them were blissfully rolling around on the bed, catnip all over their coats.
What a mess! I think we have new casting for Mungo Jerry and Rumpleteaser!
A few days ago Eric called Jeffrey a fruit loop (that's a kid's breakfast cereal here in the U.S.). I kidding said we should call him Loopy, kidding because there's a chance he'll outgrow his silliness. Eric has really locked on to the name, saying we could spell it Lupe so it would work either way.
