The "YOWs" have become a rarity. He's calming down and feeling at home. He let us sleep past the first alarm! Eric went looking for him to find him sleeping in my recliner. He didn't cry at all when Eric left a few minutes ago. When we call him, he's ignoring us more. I take that as a trust thing, he knows we'll love him even if he doesn't come when we call.

Cactus is now cussing at him when he comes into the bedroom. She got scolded by both of us this morning, "Be NICE," we told her a few minutes apart. Then she was a bit better, letting him get onto the bed while Eric was in the shower. He plopped himself down next to my head and she came up on my other side when I called her so I could pet her. When he got up and started walking toward her, she cussed a little as she tucked her paws against her chest. Oh, she's not worried about him at all if she'll relax enough to do that! She's just being crabby because that's what Miss Cactus does. We should have named her Lucy after the Peanuts character. She's the crabbiest cat I've ever had if she doesn't get her way. She's incredibly sweet when she does get her way to make up for it. ;)

Scampi sometimes grumps at him and sometimes kisses him.

We love to listen to him talk. When he's telling us about his day he says "Waaaaaah waw maaaaah maaw aaaaaah." When he's talking to himself and the other kitties he trills and hums.

Eric's only complaint is that he doesn't purr very much and not loud at all. But he makes up for it with sweetness. He snuggled up on Eric's chest last night after dinner, draped his chest over Eric's shoulder, leaned his head against the headrest of the recliner and fell asleep. If I weren't so short of time, I'd post the picture I took but it's still in the camera and I've got to get going. Eric said it was a bit hot to have a warm cat on your chest and shoulder, but he knows the cardinal rule of being owned by cats: Don't wake the kitty! It doesn't matter if your arm is cramping or if you're uncomfortable, you can't wake the kitty!
We have night-blooming primroses (a California wild-flower) growing in our front lawn. I talked Eric into mowing around them and they started blooming a week ago. Every night at dusk, they swell their buds and burst into bloom for one night. I have fond memories of watching them bloom with my grandmother at her house when I was small, so I'm delighted we have some growing in our yard. When the sun hits them in the morning, they wither and dry up.

The next evening a new set of buds repeat the performance.

I wondered what fertilized them and tonight Eric happened to see what I think is a sphinx moth sipping nectar. I got the camera and took three pictures, two of which have the moth. It left. I'm afraid I probably blinded it. Eric thinks he can see a very long probiscus in the flight photo. It was leaving from the flashes when I snapped that one. It's about the size of a hummingbird!

Isn't it gorgeous?

Here's the sweet photo I took of Jeffrey sleeping on Eric's shoulder. :)
