ITCHY ITCHY ITCHY! ARRRRGGGGGHHHHH!

Must be fall allergies. I guess it wasn't a good idea to go without my Zyrtec for two days in a row a few days ago. Now it's taking its sweet time soothing my poor broken out nasal passages. In the meantime, every little piece of cat and rat dander itches like MAD. I've gone to the extreme of smearing vaseline up as far as I can with a Q-tip as my allergist suggested for times like these. I think the hot weather isn't helping much. My Fall allergies were always the worst and it's been REALLY HOT for days now. That's drying everything up that wasn't already dried up. It didn't help that perimenopause is making my life a misery. Last week's final interview with the Special Ed coordinator went well I think. It turns out she's another grown up ADHD person! We had a lot in common and she liked my answers to what I'd do in different situations. She especially liked my answer to what I'd do if I was working with 4 kids and the lesson wasn't getting through to one of them. She asked if and how I'd talk to the teacher about it. I told her I'd arrange something with the teacher to discuss it away from the kids because of the embarrassment factor. Special Ed kids already know they're different. There's no need to make them feel any worse about themselves.

Since I first contacted the school district, another long-term sub position has come up starting in October at my old junior high! Someone is having surgery. The original position they were looking to fill was for mainstreaming a fifth grade autistic boy. If it doesn't work out, he'll have to go back to Special Ed. Transition times are extremely difficult for autistic kids. She seemed pleased to know I'm aware of that and that I know a couple of families with autistic kids.

Friday morning I have an appointment to be fingerprinted and to have my background check completed. Once that's done I'm cleared to work with the kids. I'm waiting now for the call to see if I got one of the two positions or if I'm going to be on the sub list.

The steady paycheck would be really helpful, but to be honest I'm hoping for the sub list so I can more easily pursue my voice-over dream.

Whatever is meant to be will be. I'll gladly take whatever they offer. :)

Ah well, now to fill out that pile of paperwork they gave me!
