Dempsey wants to be our kitty

He's been coming for dinner nearly every night. It's filling out his frail little body into a sleek healthy one.

Last night he was in the front yard as we were leaving to get burritos. I saw him with Eric and went in to grab a dish full of food for him. When I came out he ran away from Eric and me, as if I'd spooked him. We both called gently to him and when he got to the dusty rolling place under the plum tree he flopped onto his side and started rolling back and forth in a very fast, playful manner, pausing every few seconds to tip his head upside down in the dust to look at us with his whiskers and ears forward.

"Dempsey-Demps, do you want some food?" I repeated a couple of times in the baby voice I use with the cats. He stopped so I could pet him and got up to sniff the food.

"Wraaauuu" he said, then he trilled and pushed his back into my hand. I put the food down near him and petted him again as he started eating.

Yeah, I think he's old enough now that he's looking for a forever home. He's even being nice to the girls!

I'll be getting a picture of him soon so I can have his permanently folded ear tip in his icon.
