This isn't easy, at least not if you work all the hours post offices are open. After trying to send a package of 3T clothes to [livejournal.com profile] ishbel for her little darling who needs warm clothes via Fed-Ex and UPS online and not being able to get them to accept the address, I finally called Fed-Ex to ask how to do it. The person was apologetic and explained they can't accept packages for military bases because the law states the packages have to be inspected by the US Postal Service. My only option is to take it, unsealed, to a post office so it can be inspected before mailing and send it Priority or Express mail. After the inspection the overseas Fed-Ex will deliver it to the base because they have an agreement with the USPS and the government. It will probably be reopened a second time in the process for inspection.

So I found a better, stronger box at work that will withstand multiple openings in its journey. Now to find the time to stand in line at a post office to mail it! At least now I know the proper protocol.

Are people really sending bad things to military bases? I guess they must be to have all this in place.
