Lots going on
Jun. 22nd, 2008 03:27 pmMy family is getting together for dinner tonight to celebrate my birthday a bit early. My sister belongs to an online group that spends a week together every year and it's always the week of my birthday. I haven't celebrated my birthday on my birthday for over 10 years now. I'm going to tell her to tell them they're giving me a complex, that I'm sure they all must hate me to mess up my birthday every year. ;)
Honestly, I don't really care. I'd just assume we skip my birthday. After I hit 50, it all got boring anyway. I have to come up with somewhere to go and a list of wishes. Bleh. Our house is full. The only wishes I came up with this year was for another HEPA air filter or two or gift certificates. Getting together is fun but I have to find someplace everyone likes. Three members of my family can't tolerate fish. With Mom, it's an actual iodine allergy. One can't deal with spicy.
I found someplace good this year. Sonoma Chicken Coop has really good food for not a lot of money, though since we're all fully employed or retired and comfortable, money isn't really an issue anymore. My nephew Chris will be there. Mike and Katie won't. They've been down every weekend lately and that gets expensive with gas prices as they are.
As soon as I post this, I'm off to shower, get my car washed and pick up kitty litter at the least and also party supplies for J & B's graduation party if I have time. There's always tomorrow night. We'll pick Mom up at 5:45 and head over to the restaurant.
Mom's pool is under renovation. It had problems with tiles falling off and tiny cracks in the finish but when it started leaking she knew it was time to have it redone. It turns out the leak was in the pool cleaning system under the concrete patio. They actually have people with sensing devices that can find that kind of thing! It's now all dug up, piping replaced, retiled and in the process of being refinished. Mom went with stone tiles that are cut onsite. Her house is now full of rock dust. Once it's all finished she can refill it. We're hoping that will be before the water company puts on water restrictions due to drought. She uses her pool and attached spa for exercise and pain control.
I can't wait to see it. :)
Tuesday night I pick up Brandon and his aunt Shirley at the train station and deliver Shirley to J's house. Wednesday is J's graduation. I really lucked out. I have to leave work an hour early and that happens to be the day my company is having their month-end party that starts at 4PM. I get to eat pizza and play Wii for half an hour before leaving to get Brandon for the graduation. I won't have to rearrange my hours because I won't be working anyway! I'll snag some pizza for Brandon, too. Then we won't be starving during graduation.
Saturday is the big double graduation party. Yay! Busy, happy times. Now, if only I wasn't so tired.
