Woot! Down one size!
Apr. 13th, 2008 03:16 pmYesterday the only task that happened was getting my IRA set up for our taxes. I found out the eyeglass place was open Sundays so I put it off.
Today I got the results I expected. They have no solution for my broken temple. The tech said they could replace both temples with temples from something else but it would cost me $120!!! What?!? I didn't even pay that much for the frames in the first place. She did give me the address of an eyeglass frames repair store which naturally, isn't open on Sundays. I might be able to get something to get me through until I financially recover from taxes and can pay for new computer glasses. I'm going to look up glues online and see if I can find one that "Instantly welds!" metal. I can't work without my computer glasses without horrible headaches within half an hour unless I work standing up so the computer screen is in the reading portion of my bifocals. That's not practical.
She also offered me 30% off a new pair of glasses. Yeah. I'm sure I'm going back to such a helpful place that isn't even covered by my vision care plan. >:p
Because I desperately need new work pants, I stopped in at Target to see if they had chinos in my length. Apparently Target no longer carries lengths in women's pants. *grumble*
Oh well, J.C. Penney's does. I picked up a pair of navy blue Lee chinos earlier this week and a pair of Gloria Vanderbilt stretch jeans. Her pants fit me. They come in lengths. The Lee pants don't fit as well, but they also come in lengths and they'll do. I still need another pair or two of work pants.
When I wore the new chinos to work, they seemed a bit loose. Someone commented I looked like I was losing weight. I wrote it off to the new loose pants and that I'd gained a bit with my Easter binge and had lost that. The chinos fit, if a teensy bit loose, when I put them on but they're a bit stretchy and get looser over the day as I wear them so maybe a smaller size would be a good idea. They only had the one pair of chinos in my size and length at the store.
At Target, as I was leaving in disgust because they really aren't buying to my demographic in my old neighborhood anymore, I saw a rack of jean shorts. The ones I wore today are really baggy. I grabbed 18 and 16 to try on. The 16's fit! WOOOOT! OK, I'll go back to Penney's and try the size 16 chinos next week. I AM losing weight! Size 16 says I'm OUT of the fat lady section!! Yippee! I've come off my plateau!
As I was leaving the mall, I remember my mom saying her dentist took over our old family dentist's practice that was on the way home so I swung by. There's a "For Lease" sign on the building and there is no dentist mentioned on the sign. Guess I'll have to call her after all.
