Squeakers is whining.
Mar. 10th, 2008 07:41 amIt was such a glorious weekend and since she hasn't shown any signs of going into heat that when she was wistfully watching the big kitties play through the window on Saturday afternoon, I opened the door and let her out. I hadn't seen Dempsey for days. Guess he wasn't far away. Eric did some yard work in the morning while I was at lab and he said Dempsey went singing through the yard. I might have had second thoughts about letting her out if I'd known. She came in at dinner time and I locked the house back up. No big deal except that I locked Scampi out until nearly bedtime. Poor baby! She couldn't knock because in my rush to lock Baby in, I hadn't released the screen door lock that kept it open. She finally made enough noise for me to hear her.
Sunday morning Squeakers slipped out again after knocking over several stacks of stuff. I'm beginning to think she does it deliberately. In the afternoon I was getting worried that I hadn't seen her or our two younger big kitties since breakfast time. Scampi was here, of course. She's too old and arthritic to do more than lie in the sun for a while and come back in. I called all three of the younger kitties names. A few minutes later I heard Dempsey singing and went out to see if he had Squeak with him. He looked nervously at me then settled down when I spoke sweetly to him. Wouldn't let me touch him. Loki showed up, then there was our Squeakers! She and Dempsey exchanged a long, sweet nose kiss. Awww! Eric's right. They are very sweet together. Maybe their friendship will get him to be tamer with us? heh, I know once she's fixed he'll probably start hating her again. Then she rolled in our neighbor's driveway. He rolled a few feet away. They flirted for a while then she got bored and started chasing him. Whew! As long as SHE chases HIM I'll figure we're safe. If it had been the other way, I'd be worried. It was late before I was able to trap her in the house again. She still shows no sign of heat.
She is whining at the windows and doors. Squeakers is a very verbal cat, something we love about her. She wants to go out and play! She was contented to stay inside until I let her out on Saturday. I messed up. Hopefully staying indoors all week will get her back into that pattern. Next Saturday we get her tested again. Hopefully, we'll be able to get her spayed this month.
