Valentine's Day
Feb. 15th, 2008 10:21 amAll day at work yesterday, I anticipated the arrival of my roses from Eric and for his call when he got the roses from me. No roses, no phone call. I knew he'd probably done the same thing he did for our anniversary, had my roses delivered to his office. He used to have them delivered to my office so everyone would know how much he loves me. Has my lack of libido undermined his love? Oh no!
The fact that he didn't call made me wonder if his roses made it there. When I was a bit late getting there to pick him up for our traditional Thai dinner near his office, he called me wondering if I'd forgotten. I put a mock pout in my voice and said, "Well, no roses arrived to remind me. Everyone else got roses delivered except me." He said he didn't think the florist he likes for the giant roses would deliver that far from their shop. He admitted he didn't ask. I told him the florist who did our wedding delivered at my job. Then I asked if his arrived because I hadn't heard from him and I was nervous about it. He apologized and said they did. The people at the front desk asked him how many women he had in his life, anyway! They assumed all the roses were for him.
He came out to the car carrying two boxes. The top one was absolutely gorgeous! That was my roses for him. His for me were in a gold florist box with plain red bow that was crushed flat from having the fancy one on top. I noticed the ones I got him were pretty darned large. We agreed it would be a good chance to compare.
Our dinner was our usual Pad Thai and Chicken Thai Basil. The owner directed his son to fix us our Thai iced coffee without us asking. Yum! One of us gets leftovers for lunch.
At home, I arranged the two dozen roses and filler material as best I could in the crystal vase my Godmother gave us for our wedding. Squeakers was fascinated by the boxes, the roses and the whole thing. She kept smelling one of the roses but I couldn't snap the picture fast enough to catch her. I had to settle for her sniffing a piece of greenery instead.
The roses from Eric's preferred florist were slightly larger than our wedding florist, but they looked older and were already dropping petals. I think for our anniversary in August, I'll get roses delivered to work. :)
