The ad came from the store where I spent my Christmas money and drooled over a clearance multifunction printer/fax/flatbed scanner that I didn't buy. 2 GB drive with the coupon and no purchase required! Well, they know geeks. We went in and Eric saw an add-on pack for his Microsoft Flight Simulator.

The multifunction machine was still on the clearance table still without a price sticker. I had to ask how much it was. Half price! It had been a demo until the new model came out. That means it took a bit of abuse but seems to be in good shape. We tested it by scanning my coupon. Wow! It has a separate feeder for 4 x 6 photo paper. They threw in a power cord since it comes as-is. The print cartridges are one for each color so I only have to replace whichever color it's low on. They're only $10 each and there's a $3 instant rebate for empty cartridges! Wow! I'm used to tri-color cartridges that cost $60-$70 with no rebate.

I decided to go for it. Then they told me it has bluetooth and built-in Wireless Lan! WOW! I can plug this thing in anywhere in the house and print to it! No more firing up my old PC to be a print server!

Eric found another RC helicopter on clearance, too. For a free 2GB USB drive, they sure made out well from us!

Next stop was Guitar Showcase so Eric could buy guitar strings and possibly a new set of headphones. His ones at work are so old the ear pads rotted off and he can't find anything to replace them. No go on the headphones. Their shelves are bare of the mid-range ones from all the parents buying them for their kids for Christmas.

We wandered the store looking at things and in the keyboard room I saw several full-sized 88-key keyboards! Those used to be rare and extremely expensive. Eric tried one and had me try it. OMG! They finally have the feel right on the keys! I'm so AMAZED! It feels like a real piano! OK. Wish list now contains a keyboard like that. The short keyboard with the electric piano sound and feel have been my biggest reason for not getting a keyboard and wanting a real piano. They fixed the sound problem years ago by sampling real grand pianos.

Well, I have my real piano but it's unplayable due to a bad peghole on the C below middle C. I use that key a lot when I do play so my beautiful antique piano holds stuff instead of being played. Maybe I could find out who signed the back of this thing and sell it on ebay then replace it with one of those awesome keyboards. My uncle Joe said there were a bunch of famous people who played this piano and they all signed the back. Unfortunately, he's dead and the piano was moved into our house directly against the wall. We can't move it without tearing up our wood floor.
