Things were cool at work on Friday. I gleefully knocked down my open trouble tickets fast. It's much easier when you know what to do! The guys were talked to about helping me when I ask for help. Everyone was friendly and cheerful. All is good.. except, my check doesn't seem to have been direct deposited into my checking account as it was supposed to be. I'll be checking on that first thing Monday. I need to shop and have no money!

Eric sat down in his recliner Friday night. It's been slowly breaking and he kept putting off trying to fix it. He'd just use physical force to get it to open and close. This time it made a different noise and the chair suddenly canted to one side. He waited too long. The metal fatiqued and now it's ruined. These are 14 year old chairs we'd been wanting to replace because Lee-Roy had marked them to the point that the enzyme cleaner didn't work anymore. We're grateful his didn't break until I had a good job.

Now you have to understand Eric, he's got a compulsion to dismantle things to see how they work. Now that his chair was unsittable, he tipped it over and went to work. At one point he asked me to get him some wrenches because the crescent wrench he was using wasn't working well enough. I complied. It was better than having him tip things over getting out of his corner. His chair was in pieces pretty quickly. The bigger pieces stayed together until Saturday morning when the light was better. I didn't say anything but he knew I was mentally rolling my eyes at him. he managed to get the bigger pieces out of the house without knocking too many things over. Chloe now has a very cushy bed in the covered patio!

I was working hard on our card wishing the timing had been a bit different. I don't have time right now to go shopping for new chairs and to clear out the whole area to remove my chair and get new ones delivered. I insist that we have matching furniture, by golly! I'm tired of garage sale furniture, not that you can see much of it with all of our clutter, but still!

Once his chair was out of the way he started wondering if we had anything for him to sit in until after the holidays. Whew! We do. I have some camp chairs that are pretty comfy that I picked up a few years ago. He seems pretty happy in one of those. The stars and stripes motif doesn't exactly match the pastel room but if it means I don't have to stop working on the card to go shopping, then I'm happy.

Squeakers is a fun distraction. She and Loki tear through the house and up and down the cat tree. Eric cracked up this morning when I was in the bedroom. He said at one point Loki was lying on his back on one of the levels batting both paws up at her paws. They keep inventing new ways to bat at each other. It's so fun! Squeakers has found a tiny stuffed bunny I bought for a niece back when we had Braticus. It got too near his food and stupid moth larvae built cocoons in its fur. I couldn't give it to a niece after that even after trying to clean it, so it's been around the house. She thinks it's hers. It's just the right size for a child cat to play with. She's alseep snuggling with it right now. She still adores the purpleish-blue bird that came with Scampi's med. One of its googly eyes is missing. We've built her a little playhouse out of pillows on the couch. She "hides" in there to assault the other kitties. Only half of her fits. Now that her belly isn't swollen from hookworms anymore, she can slide under the couch easily to pat at feet that go by. Human or kitty feet, it doesn't matter. We're just grateful she's a gentle girl with her sharp little claws.

Cactus is getting jealous. She's back to her old tricks of knocking on the front screen to get Loki to come out to play. We open the door thinking she wants in and she just stands there then runs away. Unfortunately, he's often not findable. She also does this when she thinks I should put the computer down and go to bed. I'll let her in, give her kitty treats and in less than five minutes she's knocking on front door again. I won't open the door after the first time until I'm ready to go to bed. She got out there. She can come back in the same way, the little control freak!
