Squeakers update

She's a half-grown cat physically now but she still plays like a kitten. She doesn't walk anywhere. She mostly runs and sometimes she lopes along. This morning we were awakened by the sound of her playing in the bedroom. She likes to play with the door and often closes it. She hasn't figured out how to pull it open again yet unless it's the computer room door with the leather bootlace tied to the knob. What surprised me was when Eric sat up and exclaimed that she was playing with both Cactus and Loki! About that time Loki streaked across the foot of the bed and crouched on my feet, then launched back onto the floor as we heard Squeakers skittering along the floor at the foot. They've accepted her as one of the group! They're going to miss her too.

We realized last night that she hadn't come up to snuggle with Eric for the last week. She'd started the week feeling ill from a couple of vaccinations and the deworming medicine she'd had last Saturday. It was very quiet with her sleeping most of the time on our bed. Her little ears were hot, poor baby. Tuesday she started playing a bit and by last night she was back to her normal kitten routine of playing wildly, eating some food, sleeping for a while then repeating the cycle. But she'd stopped coming up for snuggles. She was sleeping either on our bed or on top of the cat tree.

Today she wanted pets in the bathroom so after I finished, I picked her up and carried her to my chair for a snuggle despite her grumbling. She absolutely loves to have her face and head petted and scratched so I did that until she relaxed and kneaded my arm. She gripes if we touch her belly. Abdominal tenderness one of the signs of hookworms I read about online. I hope the medicine worked! After our kitties have their medicine, I'm going to sterilize the five litterboxes and replace the litter. I picked up two 40 pound bags of litter this week in preparation. It was time to replace the litter in them all anyway.
