Wheeeze...
Sep. 6th, 2007 08:52 amA fire 200 miles away is so large that it has filled the center of California with smoke. A high pressure system has caused the winds to drag it toward the coast. Our skies were an odd reddish haze when I came out of work last night. By the time I got home, I could smell the smoke and my lungs were beginning to burn.
The little girl next door brought me flowers to thank me for sharing Loki with her and we visited in the front yard for a while. I should have been indoors. I also shouldn't have shown her how to play "Chase" with Loki but he was in the mood for the first time since I told her about the game.
I'm paying for that now. It was too hot to close up the house during the night so that might have gotten me anyway. Since work tends to trigger my asthma when I'm not already having trouble, there was no way I was going in this morning when I'm already wheezing. Granted, it's not anywhere near as bad as it used to be thanks to the dandy modern meds I'm taking. I had already set up an appointment with my allergist for 11AM today so I called in sick for the morning. We'll see if I feel better after my appointment.
Things are supposed to get better later today when the winds shift and bring us the sea air again, as we normally have. Please shift quickly, winds!
