Woohoo! Go Mom!

My mom started driving this week. She had to get her battery replaced. I guess we should have insisted on helping her by starting the car every week.

I'm not sure who is happier she has her independence back. It's probably her. lol

Midterms

I got the worst score ever in the Windows Network Infrastructure midterm. I missed 18 out of 80. Seven of them were so ambiguous that he threw them out, but that's still only a B by my reckoning. I'm so mad at myself for not absorbing the material better and for missing the tricks in some of the questions. It was during my week without hormones. I do tend to get really stupid without the hormones. Next time, I'll rearrange my week off to make sure it doesn't coincide with tests.

ARGH!

My only hope is that he grades on a curve and that the rest of the class did worse than I did. Unfortunately, this class seems to be filled with really bright guys some of whom already know this stuff. I'm the only female in the class. *sigh*

In sad news, my favorite Windows lab partner may have to move back to Taiwan temporarily. His parents are nearly 90 and he's a only child. His dad is not doing well at all and his mom is overwhelmed. He has to figure out how to take care of his parents without damaging his daughter's education. Since 9-11, bringing his parents here is not an option. Besides that, medical insurance would be non-existant.

His kids both speak Chinese but they can't read it. His son is only in first grade. He'd catch up. His daughter is in middle school. She's in courses that challenge her in English. She'd have no chance with them if they were written in Chinese. I guess American school there is prohibitively expensive unless he or his wife can get a job in the international science park where the government sponsors an English language school. Please join me in sending positive thoughts for that!
