New stray. New stray.
Tucked safely under a baby palm tree, she stays dry when it rains.

We'd seen her off and on for a couple of weeks, ducking into our overgrown shrubs in the back corner of our yard. There's a young palm tree we keep meaning to take out that has grown to about 6 or 7 feet tall right next to the shrubs . The fan fronds are still touching the ground. They provide her with protection from the weather. She was starting to look pretty rough and I realized she was living in our back yard so I started feeding her. She's cautious but not feral. We can pet the top of her head but any more and she growls and hisses. She doesn't lash out. She just stands there growling and hissing and pushing up into my hand. Silly girl. She purrs a very loud rumble purr when I scratch the top of her head when she's eating.

Her belly is round. Kittens or starvation? We'll see. She's pretty close to delivering if it's kittens. She doesn't scarf down her food so I don't think she was starving. I took Lee-Roy's old carrier and covered it with plastic to keep the rain out. I tried to create a little overhang with the plastic to keep the rain out. Inside is an old towel. From the stuff she tracks in I can see she's sleeping in it sometimes.

She came down with a kitty cold yesterday. Seems to be feeling better today. Loki likes her. He's such a Casanova!

It's Eric's turn to name the kitty. He's holding off until we know if she's staying or not. After all, Dempsey only comes to see us once every two weeks now. We were never able to get him to a vet to be neutered.
