Friday Five

Dec. 8th, 2006 10:53 am
1) Last person you told to shut up? Eric, in jest when he was teasing me.

2) Do you drink wine? No.

3) Ever fly on a plane? Many times.

4) Do you yell at your friends? Only if they're some distance away and I need to get their attention.

5) What have you quit? Jobs, alcohol, substances, emotionally abusing myself
After I dashed off my post yesterday, I scurried around getting ready for work. I grabbed a lean cuisine for my dinner between work and class, tucked all my schoolwork into a sleeping Scamperdoo bag I had made at cafepress.com, grabbed my breakfast diet Pepsi and at the door I paused. The feeling over my shoulder told me I had my purse. My hands were full so I didn't get my trigger for keys.

I locked the door and shut it. And I remembered. Keys. Crap. OK, no problem. Eric would be home before I would and I keep a spare car key in my purse. Crap. That's not my purse. That's my bag of school stuff.

No purse. No keys. Great. I keep meaning to get another house key made and hide it in the yard. Haven't gotten around to it.

I needed to stop on my way to work to pick up a flat of Innova Evo so the kitties would have breakfast today. Happily Marion, my 90-year-old neighbor across the street was home. She let me use her phone. It was after 11AM, so it was safe to call my mom who has a key to our house. She said she was fighting a cold and hadn't been dressed in a couple of days, but she'd gladly throw something on and bring the key over.

I thought about calling my boss, but Marian has the lowest phone plan possible and a long distance call would just be rude. That could wait until I got my cell phone from the house.

Marian and I visited for about 10 minutes. She tried to jump out of her recliner a few weeks ago to get the phone and managed to twist her ankle. The bruising is green now, but it's still swollen and a bit sore. I told her about Jonathan being around more. She asked about Loki. I thought we'd visited since June when we got him, but maybe we hadn't! There was nothing to do but be calm and relax.

I then excused myself so I'd be at my house when my mom came. I got out my part of the case study and was thinking about it. There was no pencil available so I couldn't write anything. My mom showed up a few minutes later. She said she'd washed her hands before touching the key so she wouldn't give me any germs. She seemed very pleased that I needed her. :)

She suggested I have a key made to give to Marian. I'd mentioned that to Marian but she was worried that she might die and then I'd be without my key. Yeah, I need to have a key in the yard somewhere. Our yard is such a mess, nobody would know where to look. lol

The rest of the day went pretty well. My boss suggested a couple of grammatical corrections to my internship essay but said it was great otherwise. I was missing a comma in one place. He couldn't find the other. The internship stuff for the quarter is complete and turned in on time. Yay!

My internship class was added to my schedule as they worked past the glitch that prevented me from enrolling. I paid the fees on a credit card. I hate adding to our debt, but there's no money and I have to enroll for next quarter. The wiring class is cancelled, apparently permanently. Mike, my Cisco instructor, says he'll sign off on that requirement. This means only two classes next quarter. Yay! Three was a little daunting.

The PC I tried to install for a guy wouldn't open his Outlook files. I was going to attack it today, but Dave decided to put the old slow one back until we figure out what's up with the outlook files. He's got them all! It opens with his password! No mail. Grrr. Why can't he use the NASA/Ames approved program, Eudora? It's so much easier to move from one computer to another.

Today isn't going to be fun. I have to work with a program that's a royal pain and requires a call to an annoying tech support guy who loves to rant about politics while we wait for tasks to finish.

This morning I checked on why my prescriptions I ordered over a week ago haven't arrived. They were shipped ground yesterday from NEW JERSEY. The people on the phone had no idea why there was such a delay. I'm out of my allergy pill. I've used all the samples my allergist gave me. Now I have to call my allergist and ask for a 7 day supply to be ordered from my local pharmacy to tide me over. Yet another hassle!

Better call him and get going!

Hope you all have a good day!
