Hooray for April! Hooray for Jonathan!
Aug. 29th, 2006 07:19 amHe is staying no matter what his aunt says. He's fed up with the constant threats, insults and verbal abuse. He's tired of being kicked out of the house every 3 to 6 months only to be grudgingly allowed "a second chance." He's willing to give up the extra freedom his aunt grants him "because she doesn't give a sh*t" for a loving, supportive home even if he has to sleep on the livingroom floor for the next two months. April has three roommates. The room she'd give him has a sublet tenant in it. He's on probation for the next month with the landlord. If he passes probation, April will be able to give 30 days notice to the roommate. I've offered our double airbed for his use if he needs that.
I've very glad he's staying. Hopefully April is up to the challenge. Her health isn't the best. We're close by for respite care and I've offered to join in on transport to and from events. Eric agrees to that, at least. I think I'll still try to clear out that back bedroom and set up my old super single waterbed for him. It will need a new mattress by now but it's perfect on its captain's pedestal with four drawers. It's a bed and dresser in one!
It turns out he doesn't qualify for the college program after all because he has lived outside of California for the last year. Instead, they got his paperwork started at the local high school yesterday. He got a TB test and can start school as soon as he's proven not to have it. He'll be in classes by the end of this week!
He grumbled that even in Silicon Valley there are no programming classes offered in high school. But hey, April works at the nearby community college so she can get him there for classes. :)
I'm happier that he's in high school than if he were in college. He'll meet people his own age and get to participate in dances and proms and such that he'd miss out on by going to college. OOh! I get to go to all of his school plays!!!
YIPPEE!
God Bless April! *does happy dance*

Yesterday April took him to the college to meet the people his mom worked with. Three of them loved him back then and one cried as they left the library. She took him all the places his parents knew people. Sadly most of them have moved on to new jobs.
