We got the results of his blood tests back. We have a very healthy cat with a mysteriously elevated potassium level. It's nothing to worry about. This means his swollen nose was from when he tried to burst through our screen door. He hasn't tried it again. lol But we are making absolutely sure we latch it so he can't escape. We noticed this morning that the swelling is almost gone. His sneezing is almost gone, too. Yay! It turns out he was never tested for FeLV. That's scary. We'll be getting him tested when he's completely back to normal. He'll be due for his distemper booster then, too.

I've started letting them out to play in the front yard with me present just before I feed them. This way, Cactus and Scampi can eat grass as is their habit and they don't fuss about going out. Loki gets to play hide in the hedge and burst out to prang across the yard when I say "Where's the kitty?" I have to entice him into the house with a bootlace and then immediately feed him so he gets the idea. The girls both like it. He starts YOWing at the door after he eats. He now knows what the words "No" and "water" mean. I don't have to grab the water bottle much anymore and if I do I only have to show him I have it and he stops. Well, stops is a relative term. He leaves the door and grumbles into the blinds behind our chairs or grumbles down the hall. At least he's talking quietly to himself. teehee!

Yesterday during front yard play time, he suddenly ran to the end of our neighbor's hedge and grabbed some big bug, then it became clear to me he'd caught a bee from his reaction. He got stung on his upper lip. He got rid of the bee. I had to pull the stinger out and he let me. I watched him closely for the next half hour hoping he wasn't allergic and he didn't even get a little welt. Eric couldn't see the sting site when he got home an hour later.

I noticed he liked to mess with my hair clips. He actually likes to play with my hair. He'll wrestle my head and bite my hair! He also loves to wrestle with my hand. I try to pet him when he's hyped up and wrestles and softly bites me. He got a little to crazy this morning when I was trying to distract him from Eric's activity of untangling a collection of power supplies and he scratched my arm with his tooth deep enough to bleed. I sure hope it doesn't get infected.

He found an old kitty wand with mylar ribbons and the stub of a feather somewhere. He loves that thing! It's amazing how many forgotten kitty toys he's found in our house. We've been keeping it hidden out of reach when we're not playing with it. We're afraid he'll chew off and eat the mylar ribbons and that could be deadly. I had it on the porch yesterday to use for herding him when he got stung by the bee. He ran outside after I removed the stinger and must have grabbed it and run off with it. Our neighbor's hedge is overgrown on our side (he has been saying he's going to trim it for over five years now) and has entangled itself with an asparagus vine. That's his favorite hidey hole outside. I can't get in there because I'm horribly allergic to the hedge and the asparagus vine has thorns that don't go through kitty fur. I'm assuming the wand is somewhere inside that hedge now.

Oh well, we need to get ready to go to Monterey.
