My sister and I are driving three hours away to attend a memorial for a cousin we barely knew. We are close to his mother and I'm close to his brother, so we're going for them. I have no idea what to wear. I hope there will be something appropriate in my closet that fits me. We're supposed to bring food, too. So I guess I'll be chopping broccoli tonight after school to create a broccoli salad. Hopefully, school won't last the whole four hours.

We have to hit the road no later than 8:30AM to get to the memorial by noon. Ugh ugh ugh.

Yesterday was exhausting, though I did my best to inject humor. I hung a sign on my cubicle saying "Computer and server access on Linda's government-owned PC $5 per minute" and for the humor-impaired I drew a winking smiley face. The co-worker using my computer at the time said she was glad she got on before I started charging!

I "got" to erase all the hard disks on all the old contractor's PC's. There are a few left to finish up today, ones that weren't hooked up. That shouldn't be too hard.

I teased Minh by walking into his office after I'd done all the ones I could get to and told him "Time to erase your hard drive!" He pretended to be horrified and then pretended to faint. It was funny! My second level boss and our web designer walked in just as his head went down on his desk top and they asked if he was all right. He didn't move a muscle. I told them what I'd said and that it was just too much for him! Faten didn't know we were joking so I told her we were just playing. Minh picked his head up then to let her know he was really all right. He needs to finish up the moving work before I can erase his PC.

Ooh! They're selling the computer equipment to people who want to buy it at 1/4 the original price so I'm replacing my dead 19" monitor for $48! I've missed that nice big screen. Trying to deal with a 15" monitor hasn't been fun.

Guess I'd better get a move-on. I still have no clue what to wear tomorrow. It's supposed to be hot. Hot and dressy clothes.. ewwww!
Our girls are adjusting more and more to being the only cats. For the last few weeks Cactus has awakened us by dragging a long bootlace with a rattle toy tied to one end onto the bed and meowing at us. I've found it looped through the access hole on the cat tree a couple of times too. She drags it all over the place when we're sleeping. This morning she tried to attack Scampi the way she and Lee-Roy used to attack each other when they wanted to play rough. Scampi gave her a hard look that stopped her. The two of them stood there glaring at each other until I scolded Cactus by telling her she was bad to try to hurt Scampi. As I dished up their breakfast, I saw Cactus being submissive and getting her head washed by Scampi. Obviously, all was forgiven. With all the interaction, there was no hissing. There used to always be hissing from Scampi when Lee-Roy was around.

Poor Cact wants to wrestle! Scampi just isn't up to it. I felt bad for both of them. When I was getting ready for work, I dragged Cacti's string after me expecting her to chase it. She did for a few steps and then I had Scamp right on my heels. She chased that string all through the house. That's when I realized what has been going on.

Cactus is dragging the string to play with Scampi the only way Scampi is able to play. She can't jump, run or wrestle because her back is too stiff and sore, but she can walk playfully after a string! This was something that went on when Cactus was a kitten. She was obsessed with dragging strings around and Scampi chased them. How sweet that they've returned to their original game!

They only do it when we're asleep so I don't think I'll be able to get pictures.
