I exchanged gifts with
finickynarcane last night. She made me a beautiful chain I'll try to photograph later. The frog calendar I bought for her was nowhere to be found. I wonder if it got mixed in with Jonathan's stuff? I'll have to ask him.
Yesterday I got packages mailed to Eric's dad in Kansas, his brother's family in Illinois and to Jonathan who "lost" his cellphone and didn't bother to tell me until we were well on our way to the airport. He told me it was in the pocket of his pajamas and he doesn't remember having it after that. I looked next to the cushion that served as his bed in the computer room and it was lying there in plain sight. lol
At the airport I was pleasantly surprised that they gave me a pass to go to the gate with him. They do that for people accompanying minors. Then he wanted to call his uncle Paul to let him know we got to the airport on time and that his flight was scheduled to be on time as well. He told his uncle about the missing cell phone. He got scolded big time about it. I got the great fun of removing my shoes and going through security. I'm an old hand at that now and had already pulled my change purse out separately so they wouldn't dig through my entire purse to make sure it wasn't an explosive or something. At a gift counter, he wanted to buy a little stuffed bear dressed in black and white prison stripes wearing handcuffs. Across the chest of the shirt it said "Alcatraz" and on the back was a patch that said "Rejected. Too cute." He said he HAD to get it for his girlfriend. He was already $8 in the debt to me for other things he bought and I teased him by saying "No" with the intention of caving in after I had a cup of coffee. He had stayed up most of the night - because here he can - and was very sleepy. He decided to try a mocha himself. After we bought them and walked back to his gate, they were already boarding his flight! We both forgot about the bear. I got a couple of big hugs from him as we teased back and forth about him only wanting to come see us because of our technology. Then he was on the plane.
As I waited for the plane to leave - I wasn't about to leave until he was truly on his way, just in case - I went over to the gift counter and bought the Alcatraz bear with the best expression, then I chatted with a dad who was seeing off his two kids on the same flight until it took off.
I think next time he visits, I'll see if we can go to Alcatraz. It's a great tour.
After I got home and found the phone I was able to call his uncle by using the history function of calls on my cell phone. Yay! Now I can call him. I didn't have his number before. He wanted me to hold off sending the phone for a few days to let Jonathan suffer a bit for losing it. I didn't really intend to do that but I couldn't find their address. I turned the phone off and wrapped it in bubble wrap, tucked it into a little box with the bear and then found two rechargable batteries he also left behind so those were taped together and wrapped in tissue paper to be tucked in with the rest. I emailed Jonathan to ask for his address again.
He might get it today or he might not get it until tomorrow. It all depends on how fast Priority Mail goes up the West Coast and inland to where he lives.
This leaves packages to four more people that need to be prepared and sent. Maybe three. I can't find the fleece vest I carefully rolled up and put into a small box to send to Eric's sister. She's going through a nasty separation leading to divorce right now and needed money more than anything, so Eric sent her some. We might just let that be her gift.
Ooops! gotta scoot!
