Something seems to go wrong in my Christmas/Holiday card manufacturing process every year. Usually it's my computer that either runs out of space or breaks. I did a ruthless clearing of old programs and files before I started this time. It hasn't broken. Yay for that!

No, this time it's partly the fact that our second printer doesn't want to work this year and a lot of it is stamps.com not updating their directions on how to create and print on custom sized envelopes. Grrrr! I was on hold at work for close to an hour (hooray for speaker phones) waiting to talk to one of their customer support reps. She solved my problem by going through all the steps and wouldn't you know, the step I expected to be the creation step was a step to make sure the printer was working properly with their software. Nice of the to say so... not. The card stock I bought isn't that heavy, but the duplexer doesn't want to work with it. That means I have to sit here and re-feed the sheets to print both sides. Silly thing keeps grabbing two or more sheets - despite fanning them all four ways before insertion - and I have to unjam it.

Plus there have been too many demands on my time to take me away from the process. Saturday was zoo day. It had to happen then because Mike is leaving town the day after Christmas. Sunday was Mom's birthday. Couldn't skip that! Then last night Eric's sister called. She's been without a phone for close to six months while she goes through a messy separation/divorce process. If her MIL wasn't buying her food, she wouldn't have any. There aren't many jobs where she lives. The one thing she has is a paid-for mobile home along with the land it stands on. She's not giving that up because that's pretty much all she's getting out of the marriage so she's trying to find work within a reasonable distance of there. She really needed to talk to me, not Eric. 90 minutes later her cell phone started to die and I was again free to work on my cards. I worked until 2:30am before I started a long print and went to bed.

Dang my printer is slow!

While I'm waiting to baby it along I tried to post the card and insides to my journal. The version I print is perfect but it's too light for the screen so I deleted it, intensified the colors and tried to reupload it. Then I realized I'd forgotten to tell it which gallery to place the new version into and when I tried to move it, things went haywire. Now I'm told pics.livejournal.com can't be found. GAH! You'll get to see my card eventually!

Gail, I'm really sorry I couldn't make it to dinner tonight. Its just that I HAVE to keep at this until it's done. Maybe they'll get out by Christmas. Maybe.
