THANK YOU FELLOW CITIZENS OF CALIFORNIA!
"Led de people of Cully-PHONE-ee-uh speak." he said. Then he spent millions of dollars for a special election to try to cut schools and services and give more big businesses extra cash in their bank accounts.
He wanted to show the legislators he's working with in Sacramento that the people who elected them were on his side, not theirs. He wanted to show the teachers, nurses and firefighters that the people wanted them to shut up and quietly take the funding cuts. The campaign actually villified these people, our traditional heroes; the ones who save our lives and open our minds.
He wanted to reverse previous votes (Hey, didn't we give our opinions back then?) on allowing teens to get abortions without informing their parents (with a nice little clause giving rights to the embryos), have his judge friends redistrict the state instead of doing it with votes the way it has always been done., etc. etc. etc.
And we spoke. We had record voter turnout and EVERY SINGLE MEASURE was DEFEATED! Not only did we already tell the state our opinions on these things in the past, we were really angry that he wasted millions of dollars from a budget that doesn't have enough anyway for this frivolous special election.
He looked whipped on TV last night. I guess he finally heard us.
BTW: I was the 100th voter at my precinct yesterday morning. A United Press reporter was looking for people willing to have their photo taken while they voted. I said I wouldn't object so he took three separate pictures, Two of me voting and one of me removing the magnetic card from the voting booth. Then he asked my name. Wonder where I'd look to see if he used it?
