Today's horoscope is a goodie! I'm Cancer...
"Assuming that someone else has their life totally under control while you're a big mess isn't just a fantasy, it's dangerous, too. Remind yourself that part of being human is to have problems, and don't beat yourself up about them."
Yesterday morning Lee-Roy was getting a drink from the kitchen sink. He isn't allowed on the counters so when I came around the corner he jumped down in a hurry and did a cartoon cat getaway on the linoleum, running in place until he got traction and took off out of the room and up the cat tree. Once there, he snorted and hung his head and one paw through the access hole on the top layer, his rump up in the air with his tail waving and his eyes dialated.
"You crazy cat! What were you doing on counter!" I asked him. He swiveled his head around a little while keeping his eyes locked on mine and pawed at the air between us. I reached up to ruffle the fur on his neck and he backed up quickly and grabbed my hand. He wasn't quite pulling his claws and hooked the skin on the back of my hand enough that I didn't resist. He has steel scalpels for claws and can draw blood without you realizing he's done it. I wondered if I would have five little holes in my hand. Then he pushed his head into my hand and let go, scuffled around up there and a plastic lid dropped through the hole. Oh yeah, I'd forgotten that Eric had given Cactus some catnip up there the day before. She isn't crazy about catnip. It's too strong for her at first though she can get into it sometimes. I guess she hadn't and Lee-Roy had found it. He's a "nip-head," addicted to the stuff.
I carefully withdrew my hand knowing he isn't in control at all under the influence and told him how cute and crazy he was. He soaked it up. I went into the shower and by the time I came out, Lee-Roy was in bed with Eric demanding love. He'd mellowed. He did his usual routine of getting some Daddy love then coming to me for some Mama love, then back to Eric, then back to me. I got ready for work in between loving Lee-Roy sessions.
His winter coat is coming in thick and silky and he's finally putting on some weight. We're thrilled. He had been so thin since his cancer surgery and his fur hadn't felt silky all summer. I was a bit worried about that. Now he doesn't look like a cancer patient anymore.
He'll get a checkup and followup x-ray either Saturday or next week when he has his teeth cleaned. I think our vet will be very happy to see our healthy 17 year old boy. Yup! He was born around September 1st, so he had a birthday!
side note:
Ahh, life is so much better with my meds!
Oh! And I went shopping for new jeans after work yesterday. The new "style" seems to be worn out and dirty. That's all I could find in the large women sizes. That's mostly what they had in the regular women's sizes too. Yeech! I have some old jeans I haven't worn to work. Maybe I'll just hem them up and wear them. They look faded on the thighs but at least they don't look dirty. There was one rack of jeans at one store I'd be willing to buy, and they were on the border of the large women's sizes and the regular ones. I realized how baggy my size 20's have been and found a size 18 on that rack. They whispered to try them on. They're awfully tight, but I got into them!! Woohoo! Three to five more pounds down and I'll be willing to wear them to work! YAY!
