This is my week for disappointment. My old high school slumber party gang isn't going to Disneyland on the 50th birthday kickoff after all. We'll most likely be going the week after. No being in a parade. That initially bummed me out. :(
My two closest friends from the group and I discussed the options given and decided we want to go for the gusto, staying at the Disneyland Resort. The price isn't that much more than the other options plus it's the least number of us per bathroom, always a consideration! I've always wanted to stay at the Disneyland Resort! I've played there many times. It's Coool. Our 50th birthday celebration is probably our last time to do it and still be able to enjoy all the rides. (Note to self: must do neck exercises to prevent whiplash from Indiana Jones)
We also started brainstorming on T-Shirt designs. "Boomer Babes" is already been used by the organizers for past gatherings, so that's in. "1955 Classics" was Joyce's suggestion. Karen suggested the tail fins from a 1955 Chevy. I want to put tour dates on the back showing all of our get-togethers starting with Grad Nite '73 at Disneyland and ending with Disneyland 50th Birthday in 2005. The organizer has added some ladies we don't know so I don't know if that's going to work.
Terri (the organizer) wants us to all bring purple hats. She wants to be even more outrageous than the Red Hat Society. Everyone is doing that. She wants us to be different.
Purple hats are hard to find. I like red hats. :( I'd be willing to bring my purple sequin hat from the Radio Drama if we aren't expected to wear them on rides. Somehow I don't think the feathers and sequins would like Splash Mountain.
So yeah, I'm getting excited again especially since Eric says I will only turn 50 once and can't pass this up. I don't have to worry about funding if I'm not working. :) Sometimes I wonder if I deserve such a sweet hubby.
