Friday night my hubby attended a talk given by computer graphics group. Wow I wished I would have gone! They showed parts of Polar Express that aren't in the movie and showed how things were done. But I was exhausted from Radio Drama and just wanted to stay home.
He came in the door and gushed about it then hesitated and said "She-who-must-not-be-named called today. She's in town and wants to visit."
For once I didn't feel anger welling up, so when I said "Have a nice visit." I didn't have to pretend to be calm.
He said, "To forgive is divine."
I said, "I'm not that divine. Besides, to let a person walk all over you time and time again is just stupid. I'm not stupid."
It turns out she's been married to the same guy for two years now! Eric said he teased her about that being a personal best. Her husband's father passed away so they're here to deal with property and final arrangements. The funeral is tomorrow. Eric is going to go to their hotel to visit on Wednesday night. She called while I was in class and they talked a while. She didn't understand why her husband was bursting into tears at odd moments and thought since he wasn't close to his dad that he shouldn't be so upset. Eric set her straight about that.
Part of me wants to be supportive, too. But there's NO WAY I want to open THAT door again. Nope. My contribution is to encourage Eric to be as supportive as he wants without dragging me into it.
