Got the call back from the school district.

She was friendly and said they just haven't had any need for a sub. People are healthy. The reason my last assignment ended early is because the teacher didn't think it was a good fit. They needed someone with stronger math skills. She was laughing when I told her how worried I was and assured me it wasn't anything to do with that kid and his lawyer mother.

It wasn't anything I said or did. Whew!

Paranoid? maybe just a little. You know, I'm not your mainstream teacher type. People have always thought I was weird. In high tech, weird is normal. People aren't afraid of weirdness there.

I can't even tell you how many first dates I had in my 20s that ended with, "You know Linda, you're....different." And of course, they never did call again. Not a good feeling. I need to think about the kids who are different and how having an adult around who can be a role model is a good thing. Yeah!
