Well trying to get the one day wine license for my friend
finickynarcane's art show reception this Sunday is an interesting experience. I couldn't find what I needed on the internet, so I called the office and they directed me to the proper application form.
In California you have to present the Department of Alcohol Beverage Control with certain documents:
In plus for the city of Palo Alto
What the gallery provided to us to do this was
The State approved document stating it's a Domestic Nonprofit Corporation with no stamps or signatures as they would have sent it in when applying for non-profit status.
I tried to get the Wine Permit on Friday afternoon and was sent away. They won't do it without that list of documents. The letter from the Police Chief was something I didn't know about until they told me on Friday afternoon.
The contact for the gallery claims that's all she has other than the Resale permit. They incorporated so long ago that nobody has any idea where the official paperwork is. They've had several bookkeepers. The current one could only find what they gave us. She said that's why she gave up trying to get a wine permit. It's too hard. She's in Palo Alto, so I'll wait until I gt the other documents from Palo Alto ready to pick up and get the resale permit all in the same trip.
I got up at 8am this morning and started looking online for departments to call in my quest for the proper forms. There was a fair amount of transferring from department to department including a complete circle in my quest for the incorporation paperwork. The first time I called the planning department, I got a person. By the time they determined I really needed him, I got voice mail. My phone calls were all placed by 10am. Here it is 12:30pm and not one person has called me back.
Eric wanted to take a day trip this week. I was hoping to get this all settled today, since my singing lesson this afternoon prevents me from leaving town anyway. Maybe I should just go park my behind in their office and refuse to move until they give me what I want! Hmmm! Tempting!
