I knew you were all sending me supportive thoughts and wishes today. It kept me right on the mark for my demo spots!
The first spot we recorded was a dialogue. John, a friend from many classes came in to be my other half for my tape. Sam took our picture!
( click for picture )Then John left and Sam and I pushed on through all the spots. She had highlighted the lines from each one she wanted me to do, cutting or rewriting them for time considerations and to make sure they made sense. After two hours, we were done with that part and she told me the details of what comes next. She says her uncle is caught up on his engineering projects, so she expects to get my demo master back in about two weeks. It might take longer if she doesn't like the first mix and sends it back. We discussed some of the business part of things. Then she checked with the casting director to see if he had me on his list for an audition they were recording today. He did, so I got in line. Two hours after that I recorded two very fun radio commercial auditions. While I was waiting the excitement started to wear off and I realized how drained I felt from going through so many characters in such a short time.
After the audition, I had to work out a payment plan for my demo with Sam's mom who runs the school. Demos are not cheap!!! eeep! At least I know my demo will rock! Sam's demos do.
After that I know my boss wanted me back at work, but it was past lunch time and I wanted to stop by the Exploratorium gift shop to pick up some fun things for my cousin's boys I hope to see this weekend. I checked out their cafe but didn't see anything I wanted to eat. There were some great gift ideas for the boys in the gift shop and I saved extra money because I'm a member and May is special member benefits month!!
Next, I had to rent a PO box (you NEVER put your home address on marketing materials for safety sake) so I drove all the way past home to the post office that had a small one available two days ago. Naturally it was gone. I rented the next size up. It still isn't very big and it wasn't expensive. By this time it's close to 4:00pm and I'm totally beat. I drove through a Jack-In-The-Box to get a very late lunch and came home to eat it.
Whew! I think I'm going to nap now until Eric comes home. Fed-Ex tried to deliver a package from Shanghai???? We're not expecting anything so we're very curious about what this could be! I hope it isn't carrying SARS! Yikes!
Thanks again for all your thoughts and wishes! They helped!!
