Mom's PC and Cafepress.com

Mom's PC got a new hard drive last night. It took 10 CD's to reload it. She has a CDR and a DVDRW drive and at each disk change, both of them opened. At disk 5, I decided to see what would happen if I put the next two disks into the drives. It was a very pleasant surprise when the next time I checked on it, it had used them both and was looking for disk 7. That made things go easier for both Scampi and me. She had to get off my lap every time I went to check on the PC. Now it's doing a check disk on the old drive. I left it in there as a secondary drive so I could get as much of Mom's data off of it as possible. We'll see if there's anything to get. Tonight will be Windows and driver updates, then Mom will get her PC back. :)

My Cafepress orders came for the Boomer Babes weekend. I'm not happy with them at all. The images aren't clear despite the fact that I carefully sent images that matched their size criteria. The long sleeved dark T-shirt is double-imaged. The light colored sweatshirt and t-shirt have faded spots in the Corralitos, CA 2007 area. The dark shirt's image isn't faded there. I'm not happy with any of them. They used to be good. Their quality control is non-existant.

The mugs are blurry. I carefully sent crisp images in the proper size and DPI and they're blurry. Grrrr! No more Cafepress.com.

That's too bad about your CafePress experience. I've had good results with them so far. *shrug*

I had about 20% of bad stuff at Christmas including a mug missing a chunk and no chunk in the box with it. There were coasters with purple trim that didn't match the mugs - ever even with reprints, ghosted, off-center or blurry images. This time the percentage of bad is 100%

I'm done with them.

I've heard that about cafe press. Lots of people say they are going in the toilet. Sad too since lots of places have products with them. Snapfish does similar things so they might be an option for the future.

Hard drive question for you. My external seems to be toast. Sadly, I'm bad at backing up things and I have probably 2 years worth of stuff that is on there and not anywhere else. Honestly, of all that stuff, I can get back a lot of it and the only that is totally gone is my pictures. Including most of Lizzie's life! If it is a hardware problem, do you know of anyway that I can possibly safe one folder's worth of stuff off the drive before I get a new one? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Do you have an extra USB port? If your folder is less than 2GB, you could probably copy from it to a thumb drive or two. Thumb drives are cheap these days.

If your drive isn't working at all, there are data recovery services. They're not cheap but they can dismantle the drive and reconstruct it to get the data off.

Oh wow!!!

What a disappointment, hon!

Because I REALLY liked your design.

Can you get it done over again by them cuz it SUCKED so much this time??!!

I hope so!

I can probably get the dark shirt redone but I don't like the way it looks. The design is too light to look good on it. It needed more vibrant colors to look right.

I hope you can at least get the dark shirt redone.

I'm just sorry that it turned out so poorly...you spent so much time and talent on it!

My design is still good. It's the darned printers. lol

Yeah....darn printers!!!

I meant the finished product, by the way...I know your design wasn't touched.

Thank goodness!!!

OMG that is such a shame. =(
