Misspelled words that drive me CRAZY

skiddish - Do people think this comes from critters skidding as they run away? NO! It's skittish!
ect - This is an abbreviation of the word "etcetera." It's spelled, "etc. with a period!

I stopped taking the hormones again. I wonder if my extreme irritation this morning with these common misspellings is due to hormonal imbalance?

don't read my lj as you may blow a gasket

*pauses and checks dictionary.com to make sure that is spelled correctly*

i'm the uber queen of poor grammar and misspelled words. :/

i know this is uber personal but what do you take hormones for?

The TMI incident started the temporary hormone treatment. It's to stop me from bleeding too much until I get the treatment I need to stop it.

Perhaps you need more fiber in your diet:) (God, I hope I didn't misspell anything!)

ROFL - I was eating my whole-grain breakfast bars while I wrote that. It's not fiber, it's progestin I'm lacking.

Your spelling is fine. :)

hormones = moods!

Yes. Extreme irritation with misspellings: yes.

I hate when people write:

Strickly -- it's strictly dammit!

I want to "loose" wait -- you probably don't want to loosen it up, you probably want to lose it, don't you?

Supposably - supposedly!

LLL :)

YES! I hate those, too! I'd just seen the two I ranted about or I would have included yours, too. There's a bunch of them that bug me.

To make it even worse, they sometimes write "& ect" - NOOOOOOOO!!!!! *runs away with arms in the air*

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

[identity profile] chaquir.livejournal.com 2005-04-09 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
i swear, my misspellings are out of stupidity! They really are.

*hands over some hormones* :o)

Not you, my friend. Your grasp of our crazy language amazes me. It's the plethora of US LJers in the cat communities that get me going. You know, people who have supposedly been speaking English their entire lives and went to school here?

i notice that in my own language people also write very bad. Escpecially youth doesn't make an effort anymore for writing correctly. it's a shame. I'm afraid that in a generation or two the skills of writing will decrease a lot.
Too bad. Words are such a lovely item to express feelings and thoughts. They should be used in the rightful usage.
