Vet report. Not very good.

Scampi has hyperthyroid disease. It's a very low level right now but I looked it up and it's caused by cancer of the thyroid. It's why she's been losing weight and having more energy. In itself that doesn't sound so bad but it means she has high blood pressure and that could cause heart failure. We have to start giving her daily medicine that has to be mixed by a specialty pharmacy. If the medicine does the trick, she will be well enough to possibly get her bad tooth out, so we'll do a cardiac ultrasound to see if her heart would stand up for it. Her coat isn't well maintained anymore. I was hoping that was due to her advanced arthritis. Guess not. :(

Baby has troubles, too. Her spay has been postponed for at least three weeks. Two of her numbers were elevated. One of them is not unusual in a cat that is growing fast as she is. The other is a liver function that indicates she either has a bad parasite infestation or has gotten into something toxic. The vet is hoping the deworming we did will fix that and wants to check her again in three weeks. Let's hope she just had a bad case of worms! Her belly doesn't seem as bloated so I'm hoping.
