Stuff and things
Nov. 21st, 2005 12:17 pmI went through my recipe box yesterday and was delighted to find I'd written my MIL's apple cobbler recipe down with full instructions. I was terrified that I'd scribbled it on scrap paper and lost it... again. I knew I typed it into a wordpad document one year, but that was the year I transferred to another computer and messed up my file transfers before I wiped the old disk. I lost a lot of addresses for our Christmas card list. My old address book had crumbled by then.
This is our second holiday season since Mom M. left us and the first time since then I'm making her cobbler. The last time she had to tell me her recipe on the phone. I was so happy when I found the recipe I interrupted Eric's flight sim experience to crow about it! He got a big grin on his face. He loves that cobbler!
My list is together. I guess it shows how much I've changed to healthier eating habits. I need to buy butter, eggs, cream, milk and other fattening items we don't normally eat anymore. Somehow I don't think the chocolate soymilk I use in my morning mochas would work in place of whole milk for the cobbler. I finished the list yesterday at 1PM, and didn't want to go to the store while all the church people were crowding everyplace. Instead I fired up my computer and worked on my backlog of Cisco Academy modules. It was about 7PM when the Cisco site went down. Darn it! I was taking the final catch-up module assessment (test)! Now I haven't done the module for today's lecture. Foo. I'm closer to being caught up, anyway.
Then I played The Sims 2 the rest of the evening, taking a break to order a pizza delivered and to eat it. What was that I said about healthier eating habits? We've cut back on the frequency of pizza. Small steps. :)
( What's up with my Sims 2 game.. )
Sims 2 is hard to play without hacks and cheats.
I never got to the store yesterday. Guess I'll go on the way home from school tonight.
We also never got into the attic to get the furnace filter size. Somehow we write it down and it disappears. I recorded it on my computer a couple of years ago... on that disk that got wiped. :( Last year we never changed the filter. This year with natural gas prices so high we need to get maximum efficiency. My toes are like ice. We need to get the filter so we can use the furnace. Our poor arthritic Scampers is limping. She needs the warmth, too. I'm just grateful for the unseasonably warm days we're having right now. They warm the house up enough to last until bedtime. Mornings are really hard. I just want to snuggle under the blankets and sleep if only my achy back would let me.
Tonight I'll also finish some laundry. Today I'm going to be wearing whatever I can scrape together. Eric didn't keep up on his laundry last night. He put it in the dryer this morning saying it would be dry before my load was finished washing. Wrong. He seems to forget it takes two cycles at the wash & wear setting to dry a load of blue jeans and shirts. His are now dry and mine are still in the washer. And I missed Pilates again. Guess I'll look nicer than I usually do when I go to school... speaking of which, I'd better scoot!
